Crock Pot Tips
I love using my crock pot. It allows me to have a hot meal for my family when I am working. It is also great to use with we get home late and are hungry.
-
Most crock pots have
the following temperatures:
- Low is about 200° Fahrenheit
- High about 300° Fahrenheit
- Food should reach 140° F as quickly as possible. For food safety reasons, it's a good idea to cook on HIGH for the first hour then turn to LOW and finish cooking.

Convert Cook Times between High and Low HIGH LOW 3 hours 7 hours 4 8 5 9 6 10 7 11 8 12 *** It is not recommended to convert recipes with cook times less than 7-8 hours on Low or 3-4 hours on High. - A slow cooker should be at least ½ full to ¾ full for best results
- Brown/Sear meats in a skillet, prior to adding to slow cooker to create greater depth of flavor. It also allows you to melt out fat that can be poured off before slow cooking
- Clean Up
- Line your crock pot with a cooking bag for easy cleanup
- Spray the inside of the liner with cooking spray before you fill it
